phoenix rising from the ashes

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome back to South Lamar.  Seeing such great art and great people, it gave me a lot to be thankful for this year.

Congratulations to Mary Gatling for our first art sale!  I was happy to see the attention given to our gift shop, artisan2you, featuring artisans such as Mae Mae Stiles (jewelry) and So.A.P., South Austin Soap People.  We will continue to carry specialty artisan products, from recycled sweater hats by Patz Hatz, crocheted scarves, small artworks and other hand made wonders.  The shop will go online sometime in 2009.

Thank you artists, for creating such an incredible exhibit.  If you have not yet seen the Katrina Triptych by Channe Felton, I highly recommend it.  Oscar, your fiber work is as intricate and breathtaking as ever.

I look forward to the upcoming exhibits in 2009!
